Obviously, those facts have made expatriate societies – diplomat and professional – who live in Indonesia, curious about what`s behind the scene that could make TEMPO as what it appears. They finally understood that TEMPO is the only magazine in Indonesia which can provide factual news with sharp, accurate and deep written language style. Hence, it pushed us to publish its English version. In this case, of course, to make them acknowledged better on news about Indonesia from trustable source. So, started in year 2000, we published TEMPO English Edition.
TEMPO English is purely intended to fulfill expatriate`s reading needs, so that now its copies are not as many as the Indonesian version. Averagely, we print 28.000 copies per edition which are distributed directly through subscription package and spread around to book stores chains or certain places that are commonly visited by the expatriates, such as Kinokuniya book stores, executive lounge, five-star hotels, kemchick`s, and Peri Plus book store which is located at International terminal in Soekarno-Hatta Airport.
To be proud of, right now TEMPO English is able to reach readers as what we want. The majority is diplomat or person in charge at International organizations, plus professional levels who are in top management position at multi-national companies. Surprisingly, even there are some pure Indonesian people who love to read TEMPO English – mostly because they once stayed overseas, so they feel that TEMPO English is more suitable for them.
